On Saturday, The Madison-Plains High School Cheerleading squads hosted their annual throwback game, wearing old uniforms from cheerleaders in the past.

The uniforms dated all the way back from 1990-2019 and showed the growth between the styles and colors throughout that time period.

Senior Rhyan Goodman wore an old basketball uniform from 1990, showcasing the difference from how the basketball uniforms looked back then vs. how they look now.

The 12 cheerleaders that participated are pictured above.

Front: Keira Kimbler (9), Marissa Mullins (9), Head Captain Kaylee Hart (12), Captain Maddison Mullins (11) and Emma McCoy (10).

Back: Captain Shelby Jones (12), Gracie Farmer (11), Addison Tesi (12), Rhyan Goodman (12), Octavia Wells (10), Shyanne Miller (9) and Crystal Weimer (9).

The cheer team invited all past MP cheerleaders to support them at their game and offered them a sectioned off place to sit. Multiple girls visited the team and reminisced on their high school years at Madison-Plains.

Some of the alumni that attended were Mikayla Sibley ‘19, Skyler White ‘19 and Tara Buscemi ‘15.

White stated, “I was glad to see they decided to continue this tradition from last year. It was a very fun experience and I’m glad I got the opportunity to help.”

The team also decided to devote their halftime to perform a showcase dedicated to all of the alumni cheerleaders. Their routine consisted of a two minute hiphop dance with older music that they’ve listened to throughout the years.

Coach Rebecca Horn plans on collecting and borrowing future alumni cheerleaders’ uniforms and continuing their throwback traditions.
